Auckland Council Movies in Parks

In 2007 Openair Cinema held its first free event together with the Auckland City Council at Victoria Park with a two-night short film festival. This was the stepping stone for the Auckland Council ‘Movies In Parks’ series which since 2008 have become one of the summer landmark events of the Auckland Region.

The 2023 summer season runs from Janurary to March with 17 free movies.

Drive-In At the Showgrounds

In April 2022, The Travelling Cinema Company brought joy to Aucklanders who enjoyed a very special limited season of amazon flicks shown on NZ's largest screen from the safety of their cars. The Auckland Showgrounds hosted the drive-in with great drinks and food available.

Motat Drive-In Movies

The Drive-In by MOTAT was an unforgetable experience enjoyed by families and friends, with food trucks on site and all the novelty of watching a movie in the country's largest outdoor screen from the comfort of your car.

The 2020 winter season ran on weekends from June to August with 14 movies.

Sounds on Screen

Under the brand ‘Sounds On Screen’ we launched the first Music Documentary Film Festival in New Zealand in 2017. This is a yearly event taking place at the Warkworth Town Hall at Queens Birthday Weekend. It comprises national and international entries and its aim is to motivate people of all ages to pursue music as professional art, as hobby or simply as listeners “because it gives us a much needed balance to the busy live”.
